Stroke Rehabilitation

The large majority of stroke patients who have practiced Constraint Induced Movement Therapy (CIMT) have experienced a significant improvement in functional ability of their impaired arm and hand. CIMT is provided in your home. You work one-to-one with the therapist during the entire treatment. The primary goal of CIMT is to help you increase the use of your affected arm and hand in everyday life.

Call San Luis Sports Therapy to request an evaluation or additional information. Click on the images below for videos showing the improvement patients can have through our program.

Larry. A 57 y.o. R-handed man suffered a stroke 3 years prior. Before CIMT he used his Right arm to stabilize objects, and could hold objects in his hand but could not let go without extreme difficulty or assistance from his other hand. He did not use his hand for any fine motor tasks. Larry participated in 3 weeks of CIMT for 4 hours a day. He was found to have maintained his gains in a one year follow-up evaluation.

Larry writes: "Before the therapy I simply could not pick up a can of soda, or hold a telephone. Now I can easily do those and many other things."
